The Soviet Poster series brings together faculty and students to discuss select posters from a collection of over 1,000 Soviet-era objects recently gifted to the Yale University Art Gallery by Allan Chasanoff, B.A. 1961.
Drawing on the academic diversity of the Program in Russian, East European, and Eurasian Studies (REEES) and arts communities at Yale, these conversations seek to inspire new and interdisciplinary ways of thinking about the signifi cance of the poster, both
in and beyond the contexts of Soviet media, history, and politics.
All sessions meet in the James E. Duffy Study Room for Prints, Drawings, and Photographs, 4th Floor, Yale University Art Gallery, 1111 Chapel St., New Haven, CT 06510.
Vera Shevzov, Professor of Religion, Russian, East European, and Eurasian Studies, Smith College, Northampton, Massachusetts, and Research Scholar, Institute of Sacred Music, Yale University
